Privacy policy

The short version
- Everything you type into a calculator stays on your device. We never receive it.
- We don't have accounts and we don't use tracking or advertising cookies.
- Your browser stores your colour-theme choice, plus any scenarios you choose to save, on your device only. We can't see either.
- We count page views with privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics that don't identify you.

Calculator inputs
All calculations run in your web browser using code downloaded with the page. Salaries, debts, property prices and other figures you enter are not sent to our servers or anyone else. When you use Share link, your inputs are stored in the part of the web address after the “#”. Browsers don't send this part to web servers, so it isn't recorded in our server logs or analytics. Anyone you share the link with can see the figures in it.

Both are only written when you ask for them, so they're strictly necessary for a feature you requested and don't need consent under PECR. Nothing is sent to us.
Analytics
We use a self-hosted instance of Umami, served from our own domain. It doesn't use cookies or local storage, doesn't collect personal data and doesn't track you across sites. It records anonymous, aggregated information: pages viewed, referrer, browser type, device type and country. Our lawful basis is legitimate interests in understanding which pages are useful.
Server logs
Our content delivery provider (Cloudflare) and our web server keep short-lived technical logs, including IP addresses, to keep the site secure and prevent abuse. Our lawful basis is legitimate interests. These logs are kept for no more than 30 days. Cloudflare may process this data outside the UK under appropriate safeguards.
If you email us, we use your email address and message only to reply, and keep them for as long as we need to handle your enquiry (normally no more than 12 months).
Advertising
We don't currently show adverts. If we introduce them, we'll update this policy first and ask for your consent before any advertising cookies are set, using a Google-certified consent tool.
Children
SalaryHome is intended for adults managing their own finances. We don't knowingly collect personal data from children.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict and object to the processing of personal data we hold about you. To exercise them, email us. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk. Because we don't collect calculator inputs, we usually hold no personal data about visitors.
Changes
We'll update the date at the top whenever this policy changes.
