Accessibility statement

We want everyone to be able to use our calculators, whatever device, browser or assistive technology they use.

Our standard

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. We test every page template with automated accessibility checks (axe-core) and fix what they find. Automated checks don’t catch everything, so please tell us about any barrier you meet.

What you can expect

  • Every calculator works with a keyboard alone, with a visible focus indicator.
  • Every input has a visible label, and input errors are shown next to the field they belong to.
  • Results are announced to screen readers when they change, without moving your focus.
  • Text meets AA contrast in both light and dark themes, and colour is never the only way information is shown.
  • Pages reflow to a single column on phone-sized screens, with no sideways scrolling.
  • Animations are reduced when your device asks for reduced motion.
  • Charts have text descriptions, and their figures are also available in a table or as a CSV download.

Known limitations

  • Some long tables, such as the monthly mortgage schedule, scroll inside their own area. They can be focused with the keyboard and scrolled with the arrow keys.
  • Saving a scenario uses your browser's built-in prompt dialog, which some screen readers announce differently.

Report a problem

If something doesn't work for you, email hello@salaryhome.co.uk with the page address and what happened. We aim to reply within 5 working days.
