About SalaryHome

Independent UK money calculators, built like financial software and written for real people.

What we do

SalaryHome is a set of 18 free calculators that follow the order people actually make money decisions in: what you take home, what you can afford, and what it will cost. Each calculator hands its result to the next, so you can go from a payslip to a mortgage plan without re-typing anything.

Who runs it

SalaryHome is an independent UK publication. We're not owned by a bank, lender, broker or comparison site, we don't sell financial products, and we don't take payment to rank or recommend anything. When we show interest rates, they're official Bank of England averages, not paid placements.

How we make sure the numbers are right

  • Rules as data. Every tax rate, band and threshold is stored as data with a link to its official source and the date we verified it. You can see all of them on our sources page.
  • Tested to the penny. Our calculation engine runs hundreds of automated tests on every release, covering every band boundary, each student loan plan, tax codes, rounding rules and property tax schedules in all four UK nations.
  • Workings shown. Calculators include a How this was calculated panel, so you can check every step yourself.
  • Documented method. Our methodology explains every formula and rounding convention, and where we simplify.
  • Dated. Every calculator shows when its rules were last checked against the official sources: currently 18 October 2026.

Your privacy

Calculations run entirely in your browser. We don't have accounts, we don't set cookies, and nothing you type is sent to us. Read the privacy policy for the details.

Not financial advice

Our calculators and guides give general information and estimates based on the figures you enter. They're not personal financial, tax, legal or mortgage advice. For decisions that matter, speak to HMRC, your lender, or a regulated adviser. MoneyHelper offers free, impartial guidance.
